This lovely bulb hails from Mexico where it is often sold in bouquets
since its large star-shaped white flowers are strongly scented like freesias.

and has slender stems to 20” tall with loose umbels of greenish yellow

5767 Placea ornata (Amaryllidaceae) -- Not available this year
NEW -- Very rarely seen in cultivation, this beautiful species comes from central
and northern Chile. The flower is something like a Rhodophiala, but with a
central corona like a daffodil's cup. The color of this species is creamy white with
red stripes, the corona is also red.

Large sprays of bright reddish-orange flowers appear in summer and continue
