There is only one extremely variable member of this genus.  G. superba                                      
is a climbing tuberous-rooted plant from the subtropical regions of Africa and India.                      
The deep orangey-red and highly reflexed flowers, with their wavy yellow edges, look like showy
lilies all aflame. The plants climb by means of tendrils produced at the tips of leaves.
